The Life Of The Flesh Is In The Blood
Leviticus 17:11
He illustrated how the three parts of human blood are parallel to the balanced life of the believer and the corporate church. The red cells carry oxygen and nutrients--they are the life-giving part of the blood, and the primary ministry of the believer and the church is to promote life by presenting the life-giving Gospel. The Lord Jesus Christ is the center of the Gospel, and we are to preach the person of the Lord Jesus and His work on the cross. We get so caught up with the program that we forget the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Just as the blood has to get to every part of our body or the body dies, we have to get Jesus out to the dying world.
Secondly, blood has white cells which defend against infection, and our ministry is to protect life. The body is always under attack; the army of white cells goes forth against infection, and then the body can repair itself. The body of Christ is open to Satanic attacks on our faith, morals, and strength. We have the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit, etc., to stand by the Lord.
Thirdly, platelets in our blood prevent clotting, and our ministry is to preserve life by having the spirit of reconciliation. A wound has to be closed over before it can heal itself. The church must be reconciled to Christ to be in contact with Him, and God's people must reconcile one to another to be in contact with one another. The body does not seal infection in itself; it repels it. You cannot seal sin inside. You must confess it so it doesn't flare up again.
Focus on the primary task that is ours--to preach Christ to a dying world.
