Gospel Light Christian Church Thru-The-Bible Series
User's Guide Thru-The-Bible (TTB) Series
1. Read through the Bible passage once through first (without
referring to the notes). Remember the main purpose of the TTB program is to encourage you to read through the entire
Bible once through (rather than to bog you down with too many explanations).
2. If, after reading the passage, you have limited time to read the notes, then just read the notes of the verses
that you have difficulty understanding.
3. If you are a young Christian, you may want to skip reading
the notes that are in the footnotes (those notes below the short line drawn from the right margin).
4. If you are a young Christian and have time to read the footnotes, go ahead and do so - but do not be discouraged
if you do not understand all that is written in these notes. Do not allow any of these notes that you may not understand
to hinder you or slow you down from your bible reading. Remember, understanding everything in the Bible will take
a lifetime!
5. If you have more time and are a matured Christian, go ahead
and read the footnotes. But always remember it is more important to read the Bible itself than the TTB notes.
6. It is.useful to get a Bible with large borders, so that you
can mark useful information from the TTB notes and from sermons directly into your Bible.
7. TTB program schedules daily Bible readings from Monday to Friday. At the end of the week's reading schedule,
your SF leader will lead you (at your SF gathering) to discuss certain parts of your week's reading. He will not
attempt to repeat what the notes taught but will highlight certain interesting or important parts. The Memory Verse
will also be reviewed on this night.
8. There is no Bible reading schedule for Saturday so that the previous five days readings can be re-read and reviewed.
(Sunday should be reserved for reflection on the sermon).
9. You must set aside a fixed time of the day for your reading and don't allow anything other than an emergency
to distract you.
10. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand His Word,
and expect Him to do so!
